Kentucky Landscapes

James Herman lived and worked in Somerset, KY for the last 14 years of his life.

The Kentucky Landscapes series of paintings are comprised of James's impressions of the Lake Cumberland region.  In addition to the dramatically changing vistas hidden behind every curve of the road and peak of the next hill, the series incorporates artifacts synonymous with traditional Kentucky: embroidery hoops, wooden balustrades and banister posts.

The Kentucky Landscapes were shown in a retrospective honoring James at East End Gallery in Somerset, KY in 2006.
